The Department of Software Engineering was created in 2016, during the formation of the western campus of MUKR. The activities of the department are aimed at training highly qualified developers and specialists. The need for such specialists is dictated by the constantly growing needs of the information and communications industry: the opening of IT technology parks, the rapid development of the offshore and custom programming market, the informatization of government agencies, and the needs of private business. The software industry is a rapidly developing area of ​​the modern Kyrgyz and world economy, and software is the most important component of information systems.

The program of study in the direction of “Software Engineering” fully complies with international recommendations for teaching software engineering in higher educational institutions and covers all aspects of software production: mathematical, methodological, economic, legal, marketing, managerial base, the best world knowledge and practices of software production.

The department consists of experienced teachers with academic degrees and titles, actively engaged in scientific work. Teachers of the department have experience in creating computer information systems in various fields of human activity. This contributes to the fact that practical work occupies a large part of the entire educational program. Students make full use of all the resources of the university's research potential.An important feature of the learning process is the acquisition of teamwork skills in typical software development conditions, participation in real team projects while undergoing internships and internships in companies specializing in the field of development, consulting and software project management.

The following areas of professional activity of graduates are possible: production and management, design of modern computer information processing systems, their application in business and management activities, management, programming, configuration and support of information and computer networks and mobile communication networks, electronic information security, information business, and also work in educational institutions.
The Department of Software Engineering trains highly qualified specialists in the field of new information systems and technologies. The training of specialists is carried out in such a way that graduates are in demand in the labor market not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in foreign countries.

Goals of the Department of Software Engineering:
- Graduates obtaining general scientific and special engineering knowledge, acquiring practical work experience and universal competencies that allow them to successfully improve in the professional field;
- The opportunity for graduates to work in priority areas of software engineering development, showing high professionalism in solving complex engineering problems in the field of design, development and use of software products;
- Formation in graduates of the skills of effective and professional interaction with customers, users, experts and management of companies, effective work in a team as participants and managers, capable of winning in competition and occupying increasingly responsible leadership positions, both in the field of software product development and and in the management field;
- Training of first-class specialists in demand in the labor market of Kyrgyzstan and in foreign markets.

DIRECTION SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software engineering is a modern educational direction for training world-class programmers and IT professionals advanced in the field of computer science and software engineering for the development, testing and operation of software and software systems in order to implement the digital economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
